- Description
- Promoting of Chinese language teaching all over the world largely depends on the teachers who are capable to work independently in a multi-cultural environment. While new postgraduate courses for training teachers of Chinese as a second language are proposed in Chinese universities, it is significantly important to look at the experiences of training teachers of Chinese in other countries. This paper reveals the development of teacher training in the Western countries followed by a critique on the conventional model of teacher training. It is suggested that a deconstruction of existing theoretical framework is needed in order to search for a new path for training teachers of Chinese as a second language.
